Mustard See Village: an ancient-future model of sustainable faith and sustainable living on 40 acres on Camneo Island. First phase of the village will consist of a common building with a central gathering space as well as classrooms and living quarters. It's estimated that every American household uses between 520 and 1,000 bags per year, but the national recycling rate for plastic bags is less than 5 percent. Shoppers and retailers in Mukilteo now have a year to get used to the fact, they'll no longer be able to use plastic bags for groceries or convenience-store goodies. Plastic bags consume more resources and produce more waste than reusable bags and cause more problems than paper bags because they require oil to produce, take years to break down and pose a hazard to marine life.
