Across the country, Americans are turning to cleaner energy and phasing out coal power. Because of that, the coal industry has come up with a new plan: strip-mine coal in Montana and Wyoming, transport it on long coal trains through Northwest cities and towns, ship it on massive cargo ships off the West Coast, and sell it to Asia.
Listen to Dana Lyons, song writer and performer as he talks about why Coal Trains should be stopped.

It's estimated that every American household uses between 520 and 1,000 bags per year, but the national recycling rate for plastic bags is less than 5 percent. Shoppers and retailers in Mukilteo now have a year to get used to the fact, they'll no longer be able to use plastic bags for groceries or convenience-store goodies. Plastic bags consume more resources and produce more waste than reusable bags and cause more problems than paper bags because they require oil to produce, take years to break down and pose a hazard to marine life. Listen to Richard Emery, Mukilteo City Council Member.
